Mistakes in the article
Hi! I would like to note that there's some severe mistakes in the article, especially in the summary. The mandate of the head of the Finnish DPA (Tietosuojavaltuutetun toimisto (Finland)) was never under threat. The KHO ruling is about the mandate of the head of the DPA of Åland, a small autonomous region belonging to Finland. The only official language in the Åland Islands is Swedish, and thus the KHO ruling was done in Swedish (one of the two official languages of Finland). In Finnish only a short summary was released by KHO.
The Ålandic DPA (Datainspektionen, same name as the DPA of Sweden formerly had, but not related to it at all) has jurisdiction only over the regional and municipal authorities of Åland. Matters on companies and associations etc. in Åland belong solely to the Finnish DPA. So according to my understanding, the role is kind of same as the Catalan, Andalusian and Basque DPAs have in Spain.
The Åland Islands have only around 30 000 inhabitants, so that might explain why this tiny DPA isn't really well known :). It was given the power to make binding decisions not until 2019. Before that it had only an advisory role. And just to be clear: other regions of Finland do not have their own DPAs as they lack the special autonomous status. –Nuolihaukka (talk) 01:24, 29 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Nuolihaukka, Are you able to fix this article yourself? If so, please do. I added Datainspektionen (Åland). Can you verify the information on that page? --Wimh (talk) 19:43, 29 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Wihm, thank you so much! I'll fix this article, and also check the article on Datainspektionen. –Nuolihaukka (talk) 13:01, 30 November 2021 (UTC)
